Sound of Silence

This is a painting I have been working on intensively for the past 2 weeks during virtually all my free time, whether it be at home or in school. With this piece I really wanted to expand my abilities to work with paint. I have been working to become more expressive with my brush strokes. I also wanted them to be less controlled to try and make the piece more raw. This is also my first time layering anything like newspaper clippings below the paint.

I love how this piece came out. I learned a lot about painting with shape and not line, and had a ton of fun with the color scheme. For me this has been a landmark piece and I hope to do more like this one in the future.

I definitely want to make more mixed media pieces soon!
